The difference
A year and a half of your life, back.
A conventional office will typically quote one to two years in braces. Most of that time is spent perfecting the molar bite into a prescribed textbook pattern, work that often has little to do with why you walked in. When your bite is already functional, that time can be given back to you.
Shorter does not mean more expensive. Fees run equal to or below conventional one- to two-year treatment, roughly 10-20% less depending on the appliance you choose, and removable retainers are included, an item most offices bill at $500 extra.
The method

Treat the teeth you see
Your smile is the goal, so that is where the work goes. When the bite is functional and causes no problems, it is left largely alone instead of spending a year repositioning molars, and that focus is what compresses the timeline.

Small moves, made precisely
Front teeth are moved short distances, carefully. Creating room can involve light sanding between teeth or, occasionally, removing a tooth, always planned around the finished look, never a template.

One full hour, every visit
Each appointment is a full hour with Dr. Georgaklis himself, so every sitting accomplishes more. High-volume offices moving 50 to 100 patients a day can give you minutes; this office sees 8 to 12.

Hold the result for good
Removable retainers are included with treatment, and teeth that were severely crowded or rotated can be splinted behind the teeth instead, upper teeth included, so nothing drifts back.

The doctor
The man who wrote the technique.
Dr. Clifton Georgaklis grew up in Brookline, went to Yale, and earned his dental degree at the University of Connecticut, first in his class, with a perfect score on each of the four clinical sections of his board examination. In 1991 he opened Cleveland Circle Dental Associates on Beacon Street, the same office where the six-month braces technique was born.
His technique appeared in Dentistry Today in 1999, and he has taught it ever since to dentists and orthodontists who travel in from around the country and abroad. Channel 7 News has featured his work, and more than a few dentists have trusted him with their own smiles. The approach he pioneered later inspired well-known imitators, including “Six Month Smiles” and Fastbraces.
His approach is equal parts orthodontics and cosmetic dentistry: bite planes, custom bracket modifications, and splinted retainers, methods he developed and now teaches, paired with tooth and gum sculpting and smile design in the same office.

What adults ask before they call.
How is six months possible when I was quoted one to two years elsewhere?
Most of a conventional timeline is spent perfecting the molar bite into a prescribed pattern. When your bite is already functional, Dr. Georgaklis makes little or no modification to it and concentrates on the front teeth you actually see. Add a full hour of doctor time at every appointment, high-tech materials like bite planes and custom bracket modifications, and teeth that only need to move small distances, and six months is realistic. He finishes 90% of adult cases on that schedule.
What does it cost compared with regular braces or aligners?
Fees are equal to or less than conventional one- to two-year treatment, typically about 10-20% less. Clear and metal braces start at $4,500; invisible lingual braces behind the teeth run $6,000-$9,500. Removable retainers are included, while most offices charge $500 extra for them.
What holds my teeth in place once the braces come off?
Not necessarily. Teeth that were very crowded, twisted, or far out of position can be splinted, connected behind the teeth, upper teeth included, so they hold their position with no removable retainer at all. If you prefer the standard route, removable retainers come with treatment at no extra charge.
Does changing my front teeth affect my bite?
When the bite is functional and presents no problem, it is left essentially as is. Patients frequently report the opposite of trouble after treatment: a more comfortable bite, less wear on the teeth, less food trapping, and fewer gum problems once crowded or overlapping teeth are straightened.
Can you fix more than crooked teeth?
Yes. Because Dr. Georgaklis practices cosmetic dentistry alongside orthodontics, the finish can include tooth and gum sculpting, reshaping, and bleaching, planned together as smile design rather than alignment alone. The consultation will lay out which pieces apply to your case.
